FINAL PREP

  • Gather all your crocheted pieces, your safety eyes, and glue if you are using it, together.

  • Make sure all your loose ends are worked in depending on what finishing technique you are using.

  • If gluing your applique together you will want to have no loose ends.

  • If sewing your pieces together be sure to leave your long tails out for sewing!

  • Lay out pieces of Mouse to see how you would like the finished piece to look before attaching.

  • You can hold pieces in place with your fingers or T-pins to help secure them.

  • You will see long ends remaining on my pieces as I chose to sew them together.

ASSEMBLY

Begin by Assembling the HEAD.

Start by attaching the SNOUT down the center of the FACE.

Next, attach the EARS. Place them just off the edges of the HEAD, leaving yourself enough room to attach.

Attach the HEAD to the narrow portion of the BODY. Overlap slightly and attach. Leaving slight room below the chin to fit arms in.

Attach the ARMS, Tucking them slightly under the edge of the HEAD and crossing the HANDS in front of the BODY.

  • See picture with blue lines for better idea of arm placement

  • Arms are flexible enough for you to change the positioning to get your desirable look

  • If you would like movable arms you can try using buttons!

Note: Earlier I mentioned that you can play with the pose to get different looks. Below is a photo submitted by a tester showing you one alternative way to pose your mouse.

The next step is to attach one of the Small HEARTS to each FOOT. Attach the FEET at the bottom of the BODY, tucking the wide end of the TAIL between the FOOT on the RIGHT SIDE and the BODY.

Finally, it is time to make the FACE! Attach your SAFETY EYES where you like them. I would advise setting each eye through the crochet stitches where you think you may want them. Step back, double check that they are even, and then and only then, attach the backs of the safety eyes! Attaching the backs of your SAFETY EYES too early can result in your eyes not being where you want them!

To complete your FACE you need to put on a few WHISKERS. Thread your WHISKER color yarn onto a darning needle and stitch on your WHISKERS. For this sample I used a slightly darker gray yarn, doubled, and one long stitch for each whisker.
